“Green” Cement for your HOA?

The Construction Law Musings blog has a guest post from Kelly McGinnis of the Portland Cement Association regarding how the cement industry is aware of the environmental impacts of cement manufacturing and continues to work toward reducing those impacts.  With the current emphasis on being “green” this is another factor for homeowners asssociations trying to keep in mind as they undertake construction projects in the coming year.

Thanks for the plug for Musings! Let me know if there is a green or other construction related topic you would like to guest post on.

    Thanks again,

As community associations consider “green” retrofit projects, they should keep in mind that there are specialized insurance products available to protect their work. While “green” retrofits and/or installation of energy or water saving devices can help associations realize some real cost savings, it is important that they have insurance coverage in place to repair or replace such devices should they be damaged or destroyed. In addition, a “green” retrofit can be the basis for some premium savings, as more and more insurers jump on the “green” bandwagon.

Great point, Linda. As usual, you are “spot on”!
